About US

ACTS began in 2001 when a couple UMass graduate students realized there needed to be a space for SDA students to come together, form a community, and grow spiritually. ACTS began mostly with SDAs but there were those of other Christian denominations too. It also included those of other faiths as they hosted events that fostered conversations on Big Questions.

ACTS is great because even though many of us are from different campuses, have different majors, are in different years, and have different backgrounds, we stay connected like a family because our desire/our goal is the same: to learn, practice, and share truthful and whole-hearted Christianity based on the the truths of the scriptures.

ACTS members support each other through academic, family, and spiritual stresses. We realize that while we are students aiming to accumulate knowledge, we are more than that. We need to look at all aspects of the individual. These are traits of a community that anyone, be it an SDA, a Christian, an agnostic, or any other person would definitely appreciate.

"What we have seen and heard we proclaim to you also, so that you too may have fellowship with us; and indeed our fellowship is with the Father, and with His Son Jesus Christ." 1 John 1:3

Our main service occurs at the Cadigan Center (38 Woodside Ave, Amherst, MA) on Saturdays starting at 11 am. Once a month, we also attend our support church, Florence SDA Church. Throughout the semester, our activities include: bi-weekly Bible studies, social gatherings, such as rock climbing and bowling, and a weekly lunch. Join us for retreats, community service, and more!

As you can see we're a busy group of students striving to show that being Christ-like is practical and more than possible!
